Bird Counting Hike
Come join us February 17 at 9:00 am at the Deer Valley Loop trail at Malibu for a memorable bird counting experience and take part at The Great Bird Count global annual event (read more here). Our designated location offers breathtaking views, diverse bird species, and the chance to connect with fellow nature enthusiasts. Grab your binoculars, dust off your bird guidebook, and join us as we embark on a journey to document the avian wonders of Malibu. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on bird conservation while enjoying the beauty of nature firsthand. |
Youth Art Contest
All contest entries must be submitted before May 1 with a filled submission form (participation is free). All young artists from all ages are welcome to participate! Theme: Saving Endangered Species On May 15 we celebrate Endangered Species Day. We invite you to learn about endangered species, the threats they are facing and importance of conservation efforts to protect them. Young artist are encouraged to express their knowledge with creativity and art skills. Winners will be chosen from 5 categories: preschools and younger, k-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. Winning artworks will participate in a special exhibition and receive a prize. |

This is a worldwide event, taking place in different locations in different countries, between December 14 to January 5. This is a FREE event, but it requires signing up. The flight of the butterflies is the longest known distance that insects migrate on Earth. The North American migration is recognized by the IUCN to be an endangered biological phenomenon. One of the best spots to view this migration is the butterfly grove in Goleta, adjacent to Sperling Preserve on Ellwood Mesa. |
