Happy Mother’s day to all our dedicated wonderful mothers!

Did you know that African Elephants mother's boast the longest gestation period of any land animal ?

They carry their babis in their womb for about 660 days or 22 months.
The newborn elephant weighs about 230 pounds (105 kilograms)!

The Asian elephants are already endangered and the African Elephants are Vulnerable, all facing critical threats.

What is the connection between Batman and Endangered Species? 
So... Today is Batman Day (yes! not a joke) and this reminded us 
of an endangered species that usually doesn't receive much attention: Bats.

The bats are the only mammals that are capable of true flight. 
Almost 1,000 bat species can be found worldwide. In fact, bats make up a quarter of all mammal species in our world!

Youth Art Contest Invitation - Saving Endangered Species

All young artists from all ages are invited to participate!
The contest theme is Saving Endangered Species.
On May 15, 2015 we celebrate Endangered Species Day. We invite you to learn about endangered species, the threats they are facing and importance of conservation efforts to protect them. 
Young artist are encouraged to express their knowledge with their creativity and art skills.
All contest entries must be submitted before May 1,2015, with a filled submission form, participation is free. Winners will be chosen from 5 categories: preschools - younger, k-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.
Winning artworks will participate in a special exhibition and receive a prize.

The IUCN determined that 12% of our world’s bird species are endangered and in threat of being extinct. Additional 8% are in near threat status. 
Therefore 1 of every 5 birds could be extinct during the next 50-80 years, that is about 2,000 different bird species!

An Inspiring Conservation Effort: Saving Critically Endangered California Condors

The California Condors are the largest flying birds in North America, with wings spanning to an amazing size of nine and half feet!
The California Condors are classified as Critically Endangered (CR) by the IUCN Red List.
Sadly, this species numbers declined drastically up to the point that in 1982 there were fewer than 25 condors left in the wild. 
Drastic measures were taken in order to save this species from extinction.
